⚠️ Important: Before you start this guide, you must download and install the Microsoft Authenticator app from iOS App Store or Google Play Store on your mobile device.

Navigate to https://outlook.com using a PC/Laptop web browser (Chrome/Edge/Firefox) and click the action to Sign in.
- Login using your work email credentials (username and password). Click the 'Next' button until you reach the screen in Step 3.

Outlook on your PC/Laptop web browser (Chrome/Edge/Firefox) should prompt you with text that says, 'More information required'. Click the 'Next' button.

Outlook on your PC/Laptop web browser (Chrome/Edge/Firefox) should prompt you to download the Microsoft Authenticator app. This step should have been done before starting this guide. Once you confirm that Microsoft Authenticator is installed on your mobile device, Click the 'Next' button.
- The next screen should have a QR code present on the Outlook.com page on your PC/Laptop web browser (Chrome/Edge/Firefox). Please open the Microsoft Authenticator app from your mobile device to follow Step 6.
- On the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device, click the addition/plus (➕) icon on the top right. If you are registering MFA (multi-factor authentication) for the first time, you should not have any entries like the one shown in the picture. It should show you the screen in Step 7.
- On the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device, click the option to add Work or school account. It should show you the dialog in Step 8.
- On the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device, click the option to Scan QR Code from the dialog popup that appears after Step 7.
- Make sure you have the proper application permissions set* for Microsoft Authenticator (Allow notifications & access to camera) and scan the QR code from Step 5 that is displayed on your Laptop/PC using your mobile device.
*Updating the permission setting may vary by device. Please consult with the user manual of your mobile device. If you are having issues with scanning the QR code, you can try to manually sign in by selecting 'Sign In' from the popup dialog in Step 8 instead of 'Scan QR Code' - Your 365 account should have been added to list in the Microsoft Authenticator app after this step. You can open it to view more detail.
- Once the account is added to the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device, please click the 'Next' button on the screen from Step 5 on your PC/Laptop web browser (Chrome/Edge/Firefox).
- Please make sure that the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device is open. Your PC/Laptop web browser (Chrome/Edge/Firefox) should show the following screen. At this point a notification (shown in Step 13) should appear on your mobile device. If you do not receive a notification, please review your permission for Microsoft Authenticator in settings.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and enter the number provided in Step 12 on the notification on your mobile device.
- Once the notification is approved successfully, your PC/Laptop web browser (Chrome/Edge/Firefox) should show the following screen. Click the 'Next' button to register the approval.
- Finally, you should be shown the following confirmation screen. At this point you are fully registered with MFA (multi-factor authentication). You can click 'Done', and your session will be credentialed.
